Bookkeeper
Berkeley Rep has an immediate need to hire a full-time bookkeeper; this position is eligible for benefits. The bookkeeper will report to the Controller.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain accounts payable.
- Process all vendor invoices (high volume).
- Maintain vendor files.
- Review vendor statements and track missing invoices.
- Print checks.
- Track business credit card bills.
- Pay fellows, designers, directors and rents according to contracts and leases.
- Process credit applications for vendors.
- Monitor prepaid expenditures and process related year-end journal entries.
- Generate Forms 1099.
- Deposit checks (involves cross-town travel), post deposits and post credit card transactions from numerous departments.
- Post daily Box Office reports and record weekly Box Office income.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Complete sales tax returns.
- Prepare journal entries, as needed.
- Assist with preparation of schedules for annual audit.
Required skills and experience include:
- Minimum five (5) years of bookkeeping experience.
- Proficient in Excel and computerized accounting programs. Experience with MAS90 and ADP a plus. Internet know-how.
- Superb professionalism, dedication to exceptional customer service and calm under pressure.
- Adherence to confidentiality.
- Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills. Ability to prioritize with minimal supervision and to adapt quickly to changing needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and follow-up.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
