patron services manager
Seeking a full-time Patron Services Manager for seven-show season plus special events to supervise house management staff, including 1,000+ volunteer ushers; manage and oversee concessions and gift-shop; and coordinate opening night, LGBT, group and other receptions. This position requires availability on evenings and weekends as needed to support patron services activities, special events and rentals.

Responsibilities include
Develop and implement effective procedures, systems and strategies to ensure efficient front of house (FOH) operations and consistently unique and superior patron services.
- Manage FOH budget
- Reconcile concessions and gift shop income weekly
- Track and analyze concessions and gift shop income and expenses against annual goals
- Process vendor invoices
- Schedule, supervise and motivate FOH staff (F/T house manager, P/T assistant house manager(s), substitute house managers and concessionaires)
- Develop, manage and oversee a diverse, high-quality volunteer usher program, including recruitment, training and scheduling
- Purchase, stock and track inventory to maximize concessions and gift shop revenue
- Collaborate with art and marketing director to design logo merchandise to reinforce brand, and create merchandise displays
- Coordinate opening night events
- Manage all pre-event activities including event development, donation solicitations, menu creation, space reservation and vendor management
- Coordinate on-site logistics including day-of scheduling, set-up and clean-up
- Determine pre-event and day-of staffing, and oversee support staff
- Observe and supervise FOH pre-show operations; assume leadership role in emergency situations
- Serve as primary liaison between Theatre and its 180,000 annually-served patrons; diplomatically resolve patron issues; advocate for Berkeley Rep at community events and corporate mixers

Qualified candidates will demonstrate
- A proven commitment to customer service at the very highest standard
- Experience with sales management, especially in food service and retail venues
- Enthusiasm for developing, achieving and then exceeding goals
- The capacity to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment that requires responsiveness and attention to detail
- Evidence of maturity, drive and enthusiasm
- Experience with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Appreciation of the performing arts

audience development manager
Seeking an Audience Development Manager to engage new audiences in the Berkeley Rep experience by leveraging its Group and Entourage Sales activities and its social event and hospitality programs toward meeting the interests of diverse communities. The Audience Development Manager works with the Director of Marketing & Communications to identify, cultivate, attract, retain and expand Group and Entourage relationships with a diverse array of audiences ranging from schools and school-related groups to corporations and professional groups, clubs and associations and personal and social networks. The Audience Development Manager also grows Berkeley Rep’s recurring and one-off event and hospitality program as a means for introducing new audiences to the full Berkeley Rep experience.
Responsibilities
Single / Group / Entourage Sales and Audience Development
- Create single show, group and Entourage sales campaigns to attract, cultivate, retain and nurture target markets through research, prospect mining and relationship cultivation
- Working in synch with the marketing manager and others on staff, identify and organize new audience prospects
Events and Hospitality
- Manage Berkeley Rep’s recurring social events
- Develop new one-off and recurring events to serve targeted communities
Other duties as assigned that serve the department’s administrative
- With other marketing and communications staff, design and administer programs that meet the company’s departmental needs and objectives
Qualifications
- College education and/or on-the-job training with proven experience in sales, events and relationship marketing, especially in the arts
- Outgoing, energetic personality that passionately and articulately advances the Theatre
- Collaborative nature and networking skills that motivate others
- Strong writing of promotional material, letters, web and e-mail copy, and more
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, ability to learn and utilize Tessitura

teaching artist
Seeking enthusiastic Teaching Artists to join Berkeley Rep’s outreach team! Ideal candidates are experienced Teaching Artists with strong classroom management skills; a background in acting, directing and storytelling; and comfort working in diverse K–12 classrooms. Must have excellent communication skills and thrive in a team-oriented environment. Teaching Artists are obligated to teach required curriculum as developed by Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, be prompt, prepared and attend training sessions.
