Teen One-Acts Festival

In the eighth annual Teen One-Acts Festival, writers are encouraged to develop ideas about issues that inspire them. Each year, a panel of students selects two original plays penned by Bay Area teens to be performed, directed and produced by their peers. Then the staff at Berkeley Rep mentors these teens at each step of the process to help them perfect their craft.

about the plays

Off With His Head
Written by Kelly Roderick
Directed by Tavi Carpenter

Wash dishes, do laundry, murder my husband? Off With His Head is a dark comedy about a 1950s housewife whose desire for a perfect life leads her to an act of desperation. Hilarity, confusion and perfect casseroles ensue.

The Death of a Nut
Written by Sierra Schoefer
Directed by Nkili Birmingham

The Death of a Nut is a whodunit fit for the animals—literally. With the help of a no-nonsense chipmunk, we dive deep into the heart of a forest, where motive, chaos and murder ensue.
