600 Stockton Street, San Francisco, CA

The cast of Ain’t Too Proud—The Life and Times of The Temptations wishes Berkeley Rep a happy birthday—and get ready…they’re coming to celebrate with us at OVATION!

From the first glimmer of the stage lights in 1968 to the glowing reviews of its productions today, Berkeley Rep has been producing extraordinary theatre for 50 years. Join us for OVATION on June 9, 2018 as we toast Berkeley Rep’s past, present, and future at a spectacular evening at the Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco.

Since its modest beginnings in a storefront on College Avenue, Berkeley Repertory Theatre has grown to be one of the premier theatres in the country. Now boasting two theatres, a center for new work, a school, 75 premieres, and numerous awards, including the Tony for Outstanding Regional Theatre, Berkeley Rep deserves a moment to bask in the glow. But as we raise our glasses in honor of five decades of excellence, we will also be looking ahead to an exciting future.

Berkeley Rep’s OVATION—50 Years and Glowing—is a night of celebration. It’s also a night to support the Theatre’s innovative work both on and off stage, from its productions and new play development program to nurturing the next generation of theatre-makers and theatre-goers. Reconnect with luminary artists and friends, from Berkeley Rep’s earliest days to the present, over a sumptuous and celebratory feast. Get ready to bid on one-of-a-kind getaways and VIP experiences. And be prepared for a surprise or two during this theatrically festive evening.

The World is Your Playground—From Malta to Spain

The World at portThere are only a few ways to experience The World, the largest privately owned residential yacht on earth: as an owner of one of its private residences, as an invited guest, or as the winning bidder of this exceptional lot. This is your chance to savor the trip of a lifetime on a one-of-a-kind ship.

Two couples, or a family of four, will enjoy 15 days (14 nights) aboard The World as it journeys from Valletta, Malta to Cadiz, Spain through the glorious Mediterranean Sea from April 10–24, 2019. On this exclusive voyage you’ll be joining the megayacht’s residents, who share your taste for adventure and unrivaled personalized service and amenities.

Your elegant home on this 165-residence “floating luxury city” is a spacious two-bedroom apartment, beautifully appointed and fully furnished, with an expansive balcony on which to relax and watch the world go by.

Even if you have visited this part of the world before, as a guest on The World you can experience its richness—culturally, historically, and gastronomically—in a luxury setting that far exceeds the comfort of a land-based home. You’ll unpack your suitcase only once, and then travel with ease, stopping at fascinating ports of call like the 3,000-year-old city of Mdina in Malta, the more than two thousand years of history of Cagliari, the rich architectural history, culinary delights, and pleasant climate of Barcelona, and the storied Cádiz, which according to Greek legend was founded by Hercules.

The World’s discreet personalized service surpasses that of a well-staffed estate. An extensive range of onboard activities are available, like playing a few sets on the only full-size regulation tennis court at sea; practicing your swing on the world’s greatest courses with a state-of-the-art golf simulator, along with helpful tips from the Ship’s full-time PGA pro; or joining a yoga class on deck amid stunningly beautiful surroundings. Those seeking more peaceful pursuits can choose from the library’s 4,000 books, indulge at The World Spa & Wellness Center, watch first-run movies, listen to lecturers in the theatre, or shoot pool on a self-stabilizing, gyroscopic billiard table. You can bring back delicacies from local markets to cook at home, or enjoy world-class dining at one of six restaurants on board along with selections from an award-winning wine list. Have a special occasion or in the mood for a romantic evening? For a unique and truly personalized dining option, The World’s Call-a-Chef™ program will send a chef to your residence to prepare a delicious meal.

An average of three days in port offers a leisurely pace to explore every stop. And don’t forget, The World Concierge is always available to help you arrange private excursions and ensure that you experience the best each port of call has to offer. See Southern Europe as you’ve never imagined it before. Welcome aboard The World.

Restrictions
Restricted to the dates listed and the itinerary of the ship. For two couples or a family of four. Package does not include air transportation, transfers, food, beverages, excursions, spa treatments, and incidentals. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted.

$48,000 of the winning bid is not tax-deductible.

Narsai David’s Private Dinner

Narsai and Venus DavidAs a founding member of Berkeley Rep’s board of trustees, Narsai David has a long history with Berkeley Rep. From helping to chart the Theatre’s growth to feeding the cast and crew to hosting Berkeley Rep’s annual gala, The Narsai Toast, Narsai has stories to tell.

Chef Narsai once again offers one of the most hotly sought-after items in Berkeley Rep’s annual auction. He’s the chef who has cooked for rock royalty and real royalty, and whose eponymous Kensington restaurant was once lauded by the New York Times as having one of the 10 finest wine lists in the world. Now he cordially invites you to join him and his wife Venus in their spectacular Berkeley home for an exceptional evening of food, wine, and conversation. Toast Berkeley Rep’s 50 years with wine from three centuries (truly!) selected from Narsai’s extensive cellar and paired with the meal. Watch the master chef at work, and revel in a glorious repast.

This is an opportunity not to be missed!

A Calistoga Winemaker’s Weekend

Palisades VineyardBerkeley Rep Trustee Felicia Woytak and her husband Steve Rasmussen welcome you and up to five friends for a wine lover’s weekend at their historic Palisades Vineyard in Calistoga.

Palisades Vineyard is a little bit of heaven tucked into a narrow canyon at the foot of the magnificent Palisades cliffs in the Napa Valley just east of the town of Calistoga. Bisected by the occasionally torrential Horns Creek, Palisades Vineyard’s cobbly loam soil is perfectly suited for growing the great Rhone and Bordeaux varietals.

Hot summers, cool morning westerly breezes, extended sunlight, and abundant winter rainfall combine to bless the vineyard’s Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot grapes with exceptional concentration, character, and depth. All of their Petite Sirah vines date from 1968 and the early 1970s and are dry-farmed and head-trained in the “old-world” style characteristic of Napa Valley’s heritage vineyards.

Felicia and Steve will give you an up-close-and-personal tour of their working vineyard and share with you their love of the grape. You can hike the miles of trails around the property or just relax poolside, steps away from your guesthouse. But the highlight of your weekend will be a spectacular, celebratory dinner on the property with one of Felicia and Steve’s team of winemakers.

It promises to be a spectacular weekend, with great food, wine, and friends!

Based on a mutually agreeable date. Expires June 2019.

Your winning bid is fully tax-deductible.

In 2019, you and a guest can join the festivities, party with the glitterati, and perhaps toast the success of other Berkeley Rep alums such as playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, whose Moonlight won Best Picture in 2017, after a now-infamous Oscar® night snafu.

During your visit, you’ll live like a movie star, with two nights at the Andaz West Hollywood. Once famous for its rock ‘n’ roll parties hosted by celebrities like The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Led Zeppelin, Andaz West Hollywood is now a relaxed urban oasis with a touch of vintage glamour. An Irish Journey

Travelling through the Gap of Dunloe on a “jaunting cart”Explore prehistoric forts, navigate pristine lakes, and discover hidden gems on this six-night open road adventure to Dublin, Ennis, and Killarney.

Your journey begins in Dublin, home to attractions like Jameson Distillery, Trinity College, Dublin Castle, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. You’ll stay overnight at the charming Mont Clare Hotel (3-stars). Following a full Irish breakfast you will find out why Guinness is actually good for you with two VIP tickets to Dublin’s most popular destination, The Guinness Storehouse, before heading to one of Ireland’s most characterful and picturesque towns, the lovely Ennis in Clare County. You’ll spend the next two nights at Ennis’ The Old Ground Hotel (4-stars) and enjoy a full day of Inishmore, the largest of the three remote Aran Islands, with time to wander at your leisure. A bus tour will take you to the prehistoric fort of Dun Aegnus and the Seven Churches, one of the earliest pilgrim sites. The next day, venture north past the stunning Cliffs of Moher and though the karst landscape of the Burren the Ailwee Caves. You’ll continue to County Kerry’s Killarney (approximately two hours from Ennis) where you’ll stay two nights at the Randles Court Hotel (4-stars). Your evening is open to wander around this vibrant little town, while a new day brings a new adventure. It will feel as if Ian McKellen arrives as Gandalf in the Shire, as the local “jarvey” (driver) transports you through the spectacular glacial valley of the Gap of Dunloe on a “jaunting cart” (pony and carriage). As you begin to believe that this day could not get better, you are allowed the pleasure of a boat trip into the heart of Killarney National Park, a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Your journey ends where it began—in Dublin, birthplace of Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett. On your last night on the Emerald Isle, you’ll savor a three-hour dinner and the comforts of the historic Clontarf Castle Hotel (4-stars). Originally built in 1172 as part of an inner circle of defense sites protecting the city, the Castle was opened as a luxury hotel in 1998, and it now provides you with a fitting conclusion to your Ireland adventure.
