In Here There Are Blueberries, the masterful storytelling is physically affecting. While some excellent dramas might give you a chill or two, at Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich’s play, you might lose count of all the jolts that shoot down your arms…For a play about one of history’s worst atrocities, Here There Are Blueberries winds up inspiring a great deal of hope through the wisdom it offers and the archivists’ compassion it documents.

Theatrically compelling and as deeply moving as it is thought provoking…a Holocaust story told from a different angle that asks where we might have fit into the world of 1930s and ‘40s Germany and how, if that kind of authoritarianism reared its ugly head again, what — if anything — we might do about it.

In 2007, a mysterious album featuring Nazi-era photographs arrived at the desk of a U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum archivist. As curators unraveled the shocking truth behind the images, the album soon made headlines and ignited a debate that reverberated far beyond the museum walls. Based on real events, Here There Are Blueberries tells the story of these historical photographs — what they reveal about the perpetrators of the Holocaust, and our own humanity.
